Adding the $2,145 Elite package turns it into the Limited Elite special edition. The top-spec Limited also has a number of packages, with the most expensive of these being the Night Package for $4,145. Each package requires equipment upgrades that add to the price.

These website prices are misleading, however. The Laramie can be upgraded via various style packages, including the Southwest Edition ($2,595), Night Edition ($3,645), and Sport Appearance Package for $2,605. It includes full-speed forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, pedestrian emergency braking, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. A Level 1 Safety Group package can be added to the lower-end models for $595. There are also numerous packages available across the range, with the safety and comfort packages being the most notable. From there you can add a limited-slip rear axle ($495), gear ratios better suited to off-roading and towing ($145), a 33-gallon fuel tank ($445), and the four-corner air suspension for $1,805 on selected models. There are numerous accessories available across the lineup, the most obvious being the engine and drivetrain selection. Lower down in the range, the Ram 1500 makes do with manually adjusted seats, regular air-conditioning, and cloth/vinyl upholstery. The latter comes as standard with air suspension, a 12-inch infotainment system, and power running boards.

There's a vast difference between base models and the top-spec trim. There are two body styles to choose from: the Quad Cab with a 6.4-foot bed, or a Crew Cab with either a 6.4-foot or 5.7-foot bed. A four-wheel-drive system can be added to all models except the HFE model, which is exclusively 2WD. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, as is rear-wheel drive. Other options include two versions of the 5.7-liter V8 engine and a diesel V6. With the exception of the Limited, all models are powered by the 3.6-liter mild-hybrid V6 engine.

Options range from the utilitarian Tradesman and Tradesman HFE, through the Big Horn (called the Lonestar in Texas) and off-road Rebel, all the way to the Laramie, Longhorn, and luxurious Limited. The 20 models/trims comprise seven trim levels, as well as two special editions - a Built to Serve (RAM)RED edition and a Limited Elite Edition.
